How it works
Plain English version of every formula. The full reviewer document is logic.md in the project.
Value over replacement (VORP)
Each player gets projected points per game. We subtract the points of a replacement level player at the same position (the last starter in your league size). Only the points above replacement count.
Projections
Points per game for PPR, half PPR, and standard, scored by us from every regular season game since 2024. A 2026 game counts 1.0, a 2025 game 0.35, and a 2024 game 0.15. Older seasons are adjusted for age (young players trend up, older players trend down). Each player is blended with 4 games at a fringe roster level for his position, so one big game does not make a backup a starter. A healthy backup QB is projected at 30%. Rest of season points use the games left through week 17, the real bye week, and injury status.
Redraft trades
VORP per game times games left, adjusted for a likely remaining bye, injury status, and schedule. Age and picks are ignored.
Dynasty trades
Five seasons of projected VORP, each future season discounted 15%, with position age curves. Picks are anchored to player values: early 1st about a fringe WR1/RB1, mid 1st about a WR2, late 1st about a WR3.
Package tax
The best piece on each side counts in full. Every extra piece counts 20% less, because roster spots are limited. Close trades go to the side with the best single player.
Auction dollars
Replacement level sits deeper for auctions: starters plus half of each position's bench spots (12 teams: about RB36, WR44). 11% of the money above the $1 minimums is held back and spread evenly over every rosterable player, so bench players go above $1. The rest is split in proportion to VORP to the power k (k = 0.8 by default, adjustable 0.8 to 0.9), which keeps the top end from running hot. Market mode first splits money by position: in 1QB, RB 40%, WR 41.5%, QB 8%, TE 8.5%, and 2% for K/DST; in superflex, RB 35.5%, WR 32%, QB 23.5%, TE 5.5%. Dynasty auctions value 3 seasons weighted 1.0, 0.5, and 0.25 (RBs 1.0, 0.45, and 0.20), with position age curves applied to every season, scaled to the same pool. Dynasty 1QB splits RB 38%, WR 43.5%, QB 8%, TE 8.5%, K/DST 2%. QBs grow toward a peak at ages 27 to 31 and decline slowly after.
Start/Sit score (100)
Projection and role 40, matchup 20, game outlook 15, recent trend 10, health 10, weather 5. Game outlook scales our projected team points (14 or fewer = 0, 32 or more = 15). Out or doubtful is a hard sit. Close calls (within 3 points) use the higher ceiling when both game outlooks are high scoring and the higher floor when both are low scoring.
